Wilderness Trails at the Outpost in the KNP

In association with The Outpost, overlooking the Luvuvhu River in the Makuleke portion of the Kruger National Park (KNP), I am able to offer wilderness and birding trails on foot in this extremely beautiful area.

The Makuleke concession rests between the Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers, stretching from the KNP Pafuri gate to Crooks Corner, an area covering approximately 24 000 hectares. This region possesses some of the most diverse topography and vegetation in the KNP.

The trails operate for a minimum of 3 nights (longer if required) and for a maximum of 4 people. This ensures you receive personal attention. Trailists stay overnight at The Outpost – a truly beautiful luxury lodge in a spectacular setting – and undertake daily walking from the lodge or from a location reached by open game viewing vehicle. Trails focus on the broader aspects of nature or specific aspects (such as birding trails) depending on the interests of the participants. Walking areas are chosen to capture the diversity of topography, habitat and wildlife.

The Makuleke area is recognised as one of the two botanical reserves of the Kruger National Park, and as one of the premier birding locations in South Africa with over 400 species of birds having been recorded, including some special species. This is a malaria area and adequate precautions are recommended.

Wilderness trails in spectacular big 5 country – something very unique.
